Responsibilities:
The Clerk/Treasurer is the chief fiscal officer of the Village and
the clerk for the Village Council. The
Clerk/Treasurer must be an elector of the Village and is elected to
a term of four years. The
Clerk/Treasurer is involved in most areas of village operations as
duties include attending all council meetings and keeping a record
of all proceedings, rules, bylaws, and legislation.
When new village laws require
publication, the Clerk/Treasurer shall certify that publication was
made. The Clerk/Treasurer collects and disburses resources of the
Village, must keep accurate statements of all money received and
expended by the Village, and keep records of all property owned by
the Village.

Building Permits: Each resident is required to
obtain a building permit for
all new construction and/or changes to existing structures, per
ordinance. This rule
applies to such structures as swimming pools.
Please provide a drawing of the planned renovation or
construction with dimensions, to ensure adherence to respective lot
lines and easements, and submit it to the Clerk for review by the
Zoning Inspector. After
approval has been granted, the Clerk shall issue a building permit
after obtaining the
following:

Name of the property owner

Address of the site of
remodeling/new construction

Type of building
addition/improvement
-
Cost of building
addition/improvement
-
Contractor’s name
-
$5.00
fee for any new construction up to $10,000 value or
$10.00 fee for any new construction above $10,000 value
(Improvement
permits are free of charge, but are still required.)

Records Requests: Any
person who wishes to inspect or receive copy of a public record
must submit a formal, written request to the Clerk, in
accordance with the F.O.I.A.

Voting:
In order to vote in
elections, Edgerton residents must register to vote through the
Williams County Board of Elections.
