Mayor Proclamation:

  • Sheriff Tom Kochert – Mayor Day read a Proclamation extending our gratitude and a sincere thank you to Sheriff Tom Kochert for his departments help during a crucial time in the Edgerton Police Department. Sheriff Kochert was very humbled and gives all the credit to his deputies.

Mayor Presentation:

  • Electric Department Award – Mayor Day presented a plaque to Electric Department employee Jeremy Wright for their achievement during the year. They received an award from American Municipal Power for no injuries or time loss during the past year. Congratulations to the Edgerton Electric Department.

Mayor Update by Robert Day:

  • Reminded the public of the Fall Fest this Saturday in the Park with the Car Show
  • Another Community Work Day scheduled next Wednesday to assist a local resident and also finish up the fire hydrant painting around the Village

Administrator Update by Dawn Fitzcharles:

  • Gerhart Street playground equipment scheduled to be installed October 19th along with the additional pieces at Miller Park
  • Evaluating a thermostat program thru American Municipal Power using smart thermostats
  • Oak Street Sidewalk Project moving along well. East side is completed and currently working on West side.
  • Attending the OPWC Sub-Committee Meeting today. Edgerton granted priority points for funding for the Water Treatment Plant Project. Most components of the WTP are original to 1966

Police Chief Update by Gary Plotts:

  • Chief Plotts and Jaxx are on track to complete certified training by the end of the month
  • Training for CPT all fulltime and parttime officers are working on their 24 hours required training
  • Fobs and cameras are up and running
  • The Auction went well with nearly everything being sold
  • Working to get the DARE Program Spoke with St Mary’s Principal and Superintendent Kermit Riehle from Edgerton Schools

 

VILLAGE OF EDGERTON RESOLUTION NO. 2022-024
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE VILLAGE ADMINISTRATOR TO EXECUTE AND FILE AN APPLICATION WITH THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES FOR PUBLIC RECREATION PURPOSES THROUGH THE FEDERAL LAND AND WATER CONSERVATION FUND PROGRAM

Discussion: This Resolution authorizes the Village Administrator to look for funding for restrooms in the downtown park.  The grant would pay for 50% of the project. The location of the restrooms will be dictated by where utilities are currently located.

Discussion:  Cost of the Electric Meter Pans have increased significantly. Requesting cost for residents be increased to $300 to recover our cost. Also, in order to recoup a portion of overtime hours for afterhours trip charges, it is requested to charge a fee of $75.00. Neither of these updated charges change the Rules & Regulations as they are just updates to Exhibit A.

Discussion:  Update to Personnel Policies & Procedures Manual – Section; 2.02, 6.01, 6.02, 2.16- Work Hours of the Police Department: A change to the “Work Hours” to establish a 40-hour work week instead of a 43-hour work week. Village Administrator Fitzcharles highlighted the updates defining the normal work days, holidays and hours of police department. Updates will be circulated to all employees per email notification.

  • Walk, Bike & Roll to school is happening tomorrow providing pedestrian education to student through the Safe Routes to School Program
  • SRTS – solar radar speed signs are on order
  • In January we will be moving forward with the ODOT application
  • Shelter House at Miller Park application for funding is to be considered in May of 2023 by Jim Hoops
  • Residential CRA – this is a topic of interest and would like further discussion on it as some point
  • Removal of downtown flower baskets was discussed
  • Building Assessment Plans were requested to be forwarded to council members
  • Parking Lot at Town Hall is still on the radar
  • Finance Committee Meeting needs to be rescheduled
  • Tree on Hull Street that didn’t make it needs to be replaced; one year warranty
