Administrator Update by Dawn Fitzcharles:

  • Edgerton Firefighters Pancake breakfast on Sunday, March 9, 2025 from 7-11am
  • Federal funding freeze-we have received a notification from the office of senior procurement executive to all employees, contractors, and grantees that the Federal judge has put a restraining order on the funding freeze. Most of our projects are funded at the state level so we are anticipating no impacts. But, it is still possible for certain programs to be impacted. We are going to move on with business as usual, expecting the possibility of having to make slight changes for future projects.
  • Public meeting for Edgerton Pedestrian Improvement Project Open House on Monday, February 17th @ 7:15pm-8:30 in Council chambers; public is invited to attend Open House, the website will be up and running soon which will have all of the plans and project information, and there will be an engineer from the project to meet with businesses and residents as well as attend a school board meeting to make sure that everyone is on the same page. The project is tentatively scheduled to start in 2026.
  • March 5 Council meeting– Dawn will be out of town and there is currently not anything pressing on the agenda so we would like to request the meeting be cancelled if there are no objections
  • Motion to cancel March 5, 2025 regular Council meeting:

Cost Recovery Standard: The cost recovery standard will enable our fire department to recover costs associated with hazardous material response and containment. Chief Blue informed us that this has been going on since 1994 and it is updated every so often. Everyone has the agreed upon pricing for equipment and it is billed out at that rate, usually to an insurance company.

  • Chuck Wallace asked that everyone be careful with the anticipated black ice coming. Also, there is a street light out in front of the Fire Hall.
  • Bowsher seconded Wallace’s safety concern and thanked the Street department for getting out and getting the roads prepped.

Council Member VanAusdale exited the meeting at 6:37PM.

Village Administrator Fitzcharles provided sample materials for the Council to consider for the new Miller Park Community Center. The samples included doors, cupboards, countertops, brick, bathroom partitions and more. She also had renderings of the exterior of the building showing different color patterns. The floors will be concrete. She informed the group that these product samples may vary because we do not get final pick until after the project contractor is on board and samples are based on manufacturers. The group agreed to trim all exterior doors and windows with a darker bronze color so that it stands out. The exterior siding will be a shade of white with brick on the bottom. Some members were concerned about the building being white. The same brick being used on the exterior of the building will be used for the fireplace on the inside. Discussion was had about the outdoor patio fire pit and other possible options. Dawn reminded the group that these are not the final decisions.

With three Council members remaining, Mayor Day announced the adjournment of the meeting at 6:49PM.
