Pedestrian Safety Project Open House: Public meeting help Monday night with 26 in attendance. We spoke with the BOE the same night to make sure everyone is on the same page. As a reminder, high pedestrian traffic volumes, poor visibility, heavy truck traffic, young and inexperienced drivers and lack of adequate infrastructure surrounding the school. There were lots of positive comments, people seemed to be excited. Tuesday, officials from District 2 were in town going over all of the plans as well as meeting with many of the impacted businesses.
Fiscal Officer Update by Denise Knecht:
- Credit card review 01.16.25-02.15.25
Police Department hire: Christian Stork is currently in the police academy at NW State and will be graduating in May 2025. We would like to put him on as part-time to start his training process while in the academy. This will be beneficial in evaluating Christian and getting him ready for a full-time position in May. The plan is to bring him on for 20 hours a week for 8-12 weeks under Patrolman Kunesh and Chief Jacob.
- Motion to approve hire of Christian Stork as probationary part-time patrolman effective 2.19.25 at $20/hr:

ODD Brownfield payment: We need to accept the revenue from the ODD and issue the payment invoice to August Mack for the Edgerton Metals Brownfield remediation project. We receive reports and invoices, submit to ODD, ODD signs off on transaction and sends the money, we then remit payment to August Mack.

Williams County Health Board: We would like to recommend Phillip Shiple to be considered for appointment to the Williams County Health Board. Phillip would fill a position that represents Edon, Edgerton, Blakslee and St Joseph Township. Kyle Brigle was the last appointment to serve on the board and has resigned for family reasons. Nominees cannot be elected officials and have to live in the district they are serving. Phillip Shiple has experience in heating, cooling, plumbing, water and sewer. If approved, Dawn will put together a letter for the advisory committee.

Cost Recovery Standard: The cost recovery standard will enable our fire department to recover costs associated with hazardous material response and containment. Chief Blue informed us that this has been going on since 1994 and it is updated every so often. Everyone has the agreed upon pricing for equipment and it is billed out at that rate, usually to an insurance company.

State Capital Improvement Program: This program must be renewed by Ohio’s voters every ten years. The next proposed renewal is scheduled for the May 6, 2025 Primary Election and would permit up to $250 million per year for the next ten years to support this program which provides grants and loans for better roads, bridges, wastewater treatment, water supply and stormwater infrastructure. The Village of Edgerton has received $1,374,320 in grant funds through the SCIP since 2017. It is important to note this is a renewal tax, not a new tax. Please vote YES!
