NRA Foundation Grant: National Rifle Association Foundation awarded $6,747 to Edgerton PD. EPD actually submitted two separate grants, one on behalf of the police department and one on behalf of the school district. The award will fund training ammunition, range equipment, and school safety products. A little less than half of the merchandise was received by the PD and the remaining was received by Edgerton Local Schools. We received a similar grant in 2022.

TIF legislation: A TIF (tax increment financing) is a program designed to promote economic development. Several local communities across Williams County participate in this program. The owners of this particular district are Al-phine Development and Edgerton BTS Retail, this TIF is aimed at supporting construction and improvements of Stadium Dr and the anticipated extension. Service Payments in lieu of taxes will be paid toward a public municipal tax fund which will reimburse the Village.

Refuse bid acceptance: Council authorized the Village Administrator to advertise for refuse services earlier this year. On March 11, we received one bid proposal from our current provider, Allied Waste Systems, aka Republic Services of Bryan. The proposal includes weekly collection and disposal of refuse and bimonthly collection and disposal of recycling. Proposed bid rates of $16.90/month or $50.70/quarter is an $0.80/month increase of current prices. The 4-year contract term begins July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2029 with a 1 or 2-year extension. Bulk item pickup will remain the 4th Friday of the month, and 1 large trash drop off a year. The trash rates being offered to us are very reasonable.

Council Discussion:

Jason Gruver asked for an update regarding the GIS tree program. Crews are using the completed GIS system to go around and take care of the trees in the worst condition. We will soon be adding in the electric piece of GIS.

Sharon Blinzler was approached about getting speed limit signs put up at Westlake Drive.

Blinzler also inquired about the possibility of getting nets hung around the playground at Gerhart Park.

Chuck Wallace would like to address the homes in town that need to be cleaned up. There are eyesores as people come in to town. It’s a great time to do some spring cleaning.

Wallace also questioned when we are going to start having tree commission meetings again? Mayor Day will be scheduling a meeting soon, before Arbor Day next month.

Mayor Day also stated there will be a spring health fair here at Town Hall, similar to what they used to do at the Hicksville Hospital. More information will be available soon.
