Certificate of Excellence in Reliability: Electric Department employees are present at tonight’s meeting as we celebrate and recognize the remarkable achievement that reflects the dedication and hard work of the Electric team. We have received a Certificate of Excellence in Reliability from the American Public Power Association. It symbolizes their commitment to providing exceptional electric service to the residents of Edgerton. The success in achieving this recognition is on a national level, and includes key practices such as monitoring power outages and restoration information and allows us to benchmark against national standards. Administrator Fitzcharles also acknowledged the significant savings the electric department employees have achieved, such as tree trimming and removals to cost-effective solutions such as bucket truck dielectric testing and in-house repairs. Our team has demonstrated innovation and resourcefulness, not only saving money, but enhancing our electric service to our community.

2025 Proclamation: Mayor Day proclaimed May 4-10, 2025 as Drinking Water Week noting water is our most valuable resource and serves as a vital role in daily life, while commending the entire water sector for ensuring the safety and quality of drinking water. Citizens of our Village are urged to protect our source waters from pollution and practice water conservation when able.

Mayor Update by Robert Day:

  • Arbor Day program brought over 100 people, including many students to support a family that suffered a terrible loss. Thank you to all the Village employees that were able to attend and assist with the Levi Hess memorial tree planting. Kudos to the community, “it was a great day in Edgerton.”

Administrator Update by Dawn Fitzcharles:

  • Mainstreet Edgerton meeting- attended with Mayor Day along with a couple employees to go over details of the events happening this summer; Garage Sales- June 5-7, Truck Pulls- June 28th; Homecoming celebration will be a one-day event on July 19th with parade beginning at the High School at 9am
  • Village office has toilet leak detection tablets available.
  • Leak detection survey completed – proud to report only 3 leaks were found over 16 mile surveyed including 316 access point and 129 hydrants, accounting for an estimated loss of 4,000 gallons per day. Crews have established we have the supplies and materials in stock to correct the issues. Water loss is relatively low at 5%.

NOCAC agreement: This Ohio Summer Food Service unaffiliated site agreement is an agreement with NOCAC and will run from June 2-July 24, 2025 from 11:30am-12:15pm. Roles and responsibilities for the site are detailed in the agreement, but we anticipate this program will be ran similar to it has in the past years. They anticipate 25 students a day to participate. Volunteers from various groups in the community have assisted in the past. Pastor Jennifer Miller from the Methodist Church is in charge of the program and does a great job.

Electric/Water Deposit Fund: Originally, deposits were set up as light and water only, with sewer being added in 1970’s. This is a housekeeping measure to combine deposit funds into one account. The reason for doing this is for automation of record keeping for utility deposit funds. We are now able to attach deposits to the customer account in the utility billing software so when bills are finaled, it will automatically refund deposits making the process much less complicated.

VILLAGE OF EDGERTON ORDINANCE NO 1154
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CONSOLIDATION OF THE ELECTRIC/WATER DEPOSIT FUND AND THE SEWER DEPOSIT FUND, RENAMING IT AS THE “UTILITY DEPOSIT FUND”, TRANSFERRING FUNDS FROM THE ELECTRIC, WATER, AND SEWER FUNDS TO THE UTILITY DEPOSIT FUND, AND PROVIDING FOR A SUPPLEMENT TO THE 2025 ANNUAL APPROPRIATIONS
