Mayor Update by Robert Day:

  • Memorial Day parade- simple but powerful tradition in our community; very nice day for a wonderful event!
  • Mayor for a Day- toured with Juliette Wright and Ethan Cape last Monday. It was a great year to take them around, they got to see many of the departments in action and ended with lunch at Rocket’s; one of the mayor’s favorite events.

Administrator Update by Dawn Fitzcharles:

  • Actively engaged in the ODOT project- milling will start 4am-6am this Thursday and Friday; there is a substantial completion date of 6/16 with obvious variables to keep in mind, such as weather, materials, etc.
  • The bridge south of town will be shut down 6/5-6/9.
  • June 12th – opening of Edgerton Community Center bids at 3pm; there are currently 8 full set plan holders which is great and hopefully means competitive bids; hoping to have the current shelter house down by June 30th

Communications, Petitions, and Claims of Public

  • Fire Recognition of achievements– Joshua Elliott and Zara McNalley have completed a 36-hour introductory awareness level course as a Ohio Certified Volunteer. Next up they will be eligible for Firefighter 1 or 2 training to receive additional certifications. Matt Fortney completed 240 hours of Firefighter 1 and 2 training. There is a serious need for first responders right now, so we appreciate the time, effort and work these individuals are aiming towards.
  • Edgerton Firefighters Association- received funding from the Edon Farmers CO-OP for grain rescue equipment; Original goal was to upgrade rope, rope rescue equipment and work on knot capabilities. Through Florence Township, an awareness level training for grain rescue was completed. Chief Blue received a suggestion to contact Edon CO OP. Scott worked with a couple individuals to write up a grant application. Edon Farmers CO OP partnered with CHS and each wrote matching checks for $4,150. A grain rescue tube, auger, light, harnesses and lanyards have all been ordered. EFF will have to supply a small amount of cash towards this purchase. Very thankful to Edon Farmers CO OP. Written into the grant, was the purchase of 4 extra harnesses to replace Florence Townships and their old harnesses will be used for training.

CRA Committee Meeting: Met on May 29th at 7am to discuss the application for 303 & 307 Sacher St where a duplex will be constructed. The application for abatement for 5 years was approved.
