Zoning change request: Terry and Terri Fritch own property at 313 W Railroad Street as well as the vacant lot to the east. The vacant lot is currently zoned R2 moderate density residence, and is listed on the Williams County auditor’s website as “Residential vacant land”. 313 W Railroad is zoned as C2 General Business, Auditor’s website lists as “Other retail structure”- Mr Fritch has requested the vacant residential lot to be zoned to match the general business lot. This request went before the planning commission on 7/23 where it was approved and forwarded as recommendation to Council. If accepted by Council, a public hearing will need to be scheduled within 60 days, and brought back to Council for the final approval.

Supplement: Historically, we have sent firefighters to the Fire Academy and the Fire Marshall has provided a training grant reimbursement. To this point, multiple fire departments would make application as a whole. However, at the beginning of this year, the reimbursement for the grant was unsuccessful and they are telling us that each department needs to apply for grant funds separately and not as a whole. Funds are not expected to open until after December of 2025. We have a total of 3 firefighters that attended trainings, in which we need to pay the City of Bryan for. Also, this is not an increase for the budget, it is a budget transfer with no overall impact on the budget.

Council Discussion:

Jason Gruver stated appreciation to Bryan Area Foundation and Edgerton Development for grant funds.

Gruver also commended everyone that contributed to disc golf course. It seems to have a tremendous amount of use so far, and is a pretty impressive addition to our community.

Chuck Wallace asked if the concrete bump-outs uptown will receive any kind of reflective material. Dawn responded that there will be reflective pedestrian beacons to alert traffic.

Sharon Blinzler asked for clarification on if a specific area (US 6 & 49) was a turn lane. Fitzcharles stated it is not.
