Communications, Petitions, and Claims of Public
Ashley Plotts – Police Chief Ken Jacob along with the Mayor Day want to recognize Officer Ashley Plotts for a call that she answered last week. Plotts arrived on scene to a medical emergency call involving an unresponsive female. Plotts acted quickly pursuing CPR and with assistance of EMS staff that arrived, they were able to regain a pulse on the female. The pulse was maintained until arriving at the Bryan Hospital, but despite their best efforts, the female unfortunately later passed away. Officer Plotts was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation. Mayor Day added

Police Chief Update by Ken Jacob:
- Stats compiled from 2025- 793 calls for service; 23 crashes; 128 traffic stops, 98 warnings & 30 citations
- Mayor Day added the recognition of Officer Plotts was initiated by the Village Administrator; Fitzcharles added that it’s a big deal and she’s very thankful for the willingness and quick response; Gruver added it takes a special kind of person to handle something like that, it’s well done and much appreciated. Sharon Blinzler added the fact that she got a pulse back means she was doing it right.

VFDF- Each year we are required to establish a Volunteer Firefighters Dependency Fund Board comprised of 5 members. This information must be certified with the Ohio Department of Commerce by January 31st, annually. The board would be responsible for reviewing claims and making recommendations to the State Fire Marshal, if the need arises due to a line of duty injury or death of a Volunteer Firefighter. Our VFDF Board currently consists of Scott Blue, Robert Adkins, Mike Krill, Robert Day and Denise Knecht. Mike Krill has accepted the offer to continue serving on this Board. The Fire Department reappointed Scott Blue and Robert Adkins at their meeting held on Jan 5, 2026. We are requesting a motion to re-appoint the same board members for 2026.
