Discussion- Salary Allocation/Supplement: Over a month ago, Dawn brought to Council a slum & blight code enforcement project. Best approach in order to allow general fund to pay for work, the wage allocation needs to be corrected as to not pull from the Fire fund. Currently have a list of 20 nuisance properties, going to start with 5; goal is to make notice, follow time frames and handle situations in the Village. We want to come alongside residents to address issues and help obtain resources to resolve issue. Fitzcharles relayed her excitement for Scott Blue’s assistance to complete these issues. In order to lawfully pay Scott and appropriately allocate and be compensated for additional duties this is the route we need to go. VanAusdale questioned the need for emergency language. Knecht responded it is due to the timing, if not an emergency there will be no movement for 6 weeks plus 30 days. Fitzcharles explained this is an opportunity to get farther faster and really make a huge impact for $5,700. It’s a lengthy process, and in order to move it forward you’re looking at a minimum of 150 days. It could be the end of fall before fruits of labor are even seen. VanAusdale stated she was in full support of the code enforcement, just had curiosity on the language.
