Dawn Fitzcharles, Administrator Report:

  • LMI Study– Final Determination is that Edgerton is at 40% which is below the 51% threshold needed for certain types of grant funding opportunities. From this point on we will look at specific project areas to apply for funding and not apply for community wide since we do not meet the standards for low to moderate income.
  • SiteOhio Program – Initial application was submitted to SiteOhio for the Industrial park. The program is provided by Jobs Ohio. The certification program authenticates sites that are shovel or construction ready for development.
  • Economic Development –We are excited about the economic activity in Edgerton. Last week’s announcement from Matsu Ohio is hopefully the first of many developments. As many are aware, Matsu Ohio announced they will invest more than $4.5 million in machinery and equipment at the Edgerton facility with the addition of 104 new jobs. Village Officials are scheduled to meet with the company executives this week.
  • State Bank Opening –The State Bank celebrated their Grand Opening. They were impressed by the Edgerton community and the warm welcome. They served over 460 meals out of the State Bank food truck, with meals prepared by local restaurant The Black Cow.
  • Thursday, June 3, 2021 Food Truck Back by popular demand we are asking the public to bring the family and join us in Downtown Edgerton for Grant’s Catering & Smokin’ Wheels BBQ food truck from 4pm to 7pm. Picnic tables are first come first serve; attendees are welcome to bring lawn chairs.
  • Vaccine ClinicHealth Partners of Northwest Ohio will be holding an Edgerton Community Covid Vaccine Clinic on Thursday, June 3, 2021 2pm- 4pm here at the Town Hall. Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are available for adults 18+; Pfizer vaccines available for ages 12yrs+. This opportunity was formulated in coordination with the health department.
  • The Hicksville Bank Community Appreciation Day The Hicksville Bank will be holding a customer appreciation day on June 11, 2021 from 12 PM- 4PM. Free food and beverages will be provided.
  • S. 6 Closure Butler, IN– The planned closure of US 6 (East Main Street in Butler) has been pushed back one week to Monday, June 14, 2021. The potential closure period has also been extended to Monday, August 23, 2021, weather and construction details permitting.
  • Summer Peak ReductionJune 1st kicks off electric peaking season. Edgerton will again ask for customer assistance in managing peak electric demands during periods of hot, humid weather this summer in an effort to save money on local electric bills. A significant portion of Edgerton Utilities power supply costs are based on the Village’s total electric demand during capacity and transmission peaks. As a not-for-profit, consumer-owned organization, Edgerton Utilities’ electric rates are designed to cover the cost of providing the reliable service which our customers have come to expect. By voluntarily helping manage our community’s electric demand on peak days, local consumers can help keep their electric bills down. Our goal is to keep as many dollars in the pockets of local consumers as possible, by working together, we can help keep everyone’s utility bills lower. A good rule of thumb is: ‘If you’re not using it, turn it off.
  • Water Tower Rehabilitation Project #2The Water Tower Rehabilitation Project #2 is slated to take place in the first quarter of 2022. We passed our Asset Management Plan (AMP) audit and are approved to move to the next step with WSRLA funding through the Ohio EPA. This is a huge success for our team and I am proud to report that we received ZERO violations. The Mayor, Council President, and Village Team members participated in the meeting and review. One recommendation was given. It was suggested that Council and Mayor consider taking the Ohio RCAP training for utility management and financial management for governing boards.
  • Mid-Year Budget Review– We will have a budget review and update during regular Council session on July 6th. This will provide an opportunity to review expenditures so far this year, discuss what we are still looking to accomplish in 2021, review capital projects and begin the planning process for budget year 2022.

Denise Knecht, Fiscal Officer Report:

  • May 2021 Financials – The May accounting period was successfully closed today and June is open and in operation. We are in balance. Financial Reports will be distributed via email by Thursday.
  • 2020 Annual Audit – The start time has been delayed from mid-June to late June/early July by request of the Auditor’s office due to their schedule. We have started to pull together some of the documentation requested to assist in this process.
  • RITA Retainer Refund– Our RITA retainer refund for year 2020 was received on 5/28 in the amount of $11,848.00.
