Mayor Update by Robert Day:
- There are three opportunities to participate with Halloween Trick-or-Treat. Mayor Day encourages the public to respond to the Chamber if they would like to be added to the map for trick-or-treaters to stop at there house. They currently have 14 homes for the community map and 6 signed up to participate in trunk-or-treat.
- Trunk or Treat @ Town Hall – Thursday, October 31, 2024 @ 5:00-6:00pm
- Townwide Trick or Treat – Thursday, October 31, 2024 @ 5:00 – 7:30pm
- Costume Judging @ Town Hall – Thursday, October 31, 2024 @ 7:00pm
- Mayor Day extended a welcome back to “the General” Administrator Dawn Fitzcharles. Its great to have her back in the office. She was missed and we appreciate what she does for our community.
Administrator Update by Dawn Fitzcharles:
- It’s a busy time with the budget cycle. We have committee meetings set:
- Wage & Compensation Committee Meeting- Monday, October 21, 2024 @ 6:30pm
- Finance Committee Meeting- Tuesday, October 29, 2024 @ 6:00pm
- Department Heads will come to present their Capital at the next Council Meeting on Wednesday, Nov 6th.
- On Nov 20th we are slated to have the first reading on the 2025 Budget.
- Minimum Wage increase by 2.4% or $0.25
- Health Insurance premiums are more stabilized with a minimal increase for 2025 which is much better than we’ve seen in the past few years.
- We’re working through the property and risk insurance numbers. We will have those figures later in the quarter.
Fiscal Officer Update by Denise Knecht:
- Credit Cards Statements were not available on line yet. They will be provided at next meeting.
ODD Brownfield payment: We need to accept the revenue from the ODD and issue the payment invoice to August Mack for the Edgerton Metals Brownfield remediation project. We receive reports and invoices, submit to ODD, ODD signs off on transaction and sends then, we then remit payment to August Mack.
- Motion to approve revenue receipt from Ohio Department of Development and issue payment for invoice #83879 to August Mack Environmental in the amount of $43,338.65 for the Edgerton Metals Brownfield Remediation Project (Edgerton Revitalization DEV-2022-193553) for project invoices through September 15, 2024:

Fire Department Officer realignment: The next item for consideration is the realignment of the Fire Department Officers. The Fire Dept is requesting this realignment due to changes in the group and retirements that have taken place. We are working to get some of those positions filled.

This Friday 10/18 from 4:00-7:00PM we are having an open-house in the Town Hall Gym for Firefighter Kevin Studer. Kevin is retiring after 45 years of service to our community. Stop in anytime from 4-7 to show your appreciation for his years of service and dedication. Congratulations Kevin!
Council Discussion:
Councilman Chuck Wallace reminded residents to clean up their properties. Be considerate of your neighbors. If you need help, ask.
Council Member Pam Wampler asked the Village to look at a sidewalk hump on Depot Street, East of St Rt 49 near the corner. Administrator Fitzcharles reminded that we have a sidewalk project starting soon and urged Council Members to call the office to report any issue so that we can add the address to the ongoing list for repair.
Councilman Jason Gruver commended the Electric Department on the Maple Lane Project for a job well done. Their work is appreciated.
