Administrator Update by Dawn Fitzcharles:

  • Water Tower Rehabilitation Project #1-The contractor has completed the welding repairs and inspectors are planning to be on site Thursday to do the final inspection for this. This project is close to being complete.
  • We kicked off a lighting upgrade project for the gym floor and seating area. We applied for a 1,200 rebate through efficiency smart that will be sent to the Village after the project is complete. The project includes replacement of 30 lights above the seating area and 16 lights above the gym floor. Anticipated to save approximately $1000/year.
  • The Laubach Project Construction- We are still working through the permitting process with Norfolk Southern. Our permit to perform work in the ROW was submitted over 59 weeks ago. The contractor plans to mobilize to Miller Park on November 4 and begin excavation on November 8th. North West Street and Sacher Street will be closed to through traffic only and will allow access in and out for local residents and businesses. The project includes the installation of approximately 1,400 feet of 18-inch storm sewer conduit, 150 feet of 24-inch storm sewer conduit, five catch basins, five manholes and 280 feet of 4-inch force main.  The work also includes the construction of a storm water pump station as well as other related work. The contractor anticipates to be on site until December 6th and the restoration work will be completed in the early spring of 2022.
  • At the beginning of the year and at the last Council meeting we discussed wages and how to fairly and equitably compensate employees for their skills, time, education, etc. It was discussed that before the next budget season, Council would like to have a better way to evaluate what is or is not acceptable. Council approved Clemans and Nelson to complete a formal review of our job descriptions to complete an Employee Classification Plan and Compensation Plan. We have been diligently working with them to get this completed. Clemans will be formally presenting the information. I will be requesting a committee meeting with the wage and compensation committee in the next week or so.
