Halloween Discussion:

  • Town wide Trick or Treat will be held on Saturday, Nov 2, 2019 from 5-7PM.
  • The location for the costume contest will be at the Town Hall Gym this year.
  • Jim Bowsher will MC the event.
  • Chuck is working with local business to request donations and/or assistance making this a community event.
  • Dean questioned the possibility of having a Fire Truck at Town Hall on location to bring attention since this is the first year that the event will not be held at the Fire Hall. Chuck will check on this.
  • The idea of allowing “Trunk or Treat” in front of Town Hall was suggested. Cars would back in to keep the trick or treaters on the sidewalk in front of our building.
  • Chuck is checking with the Fire Department to see if they can coordinate this date with their usual donut sale.
  • Jason suggested asking for assistance for this event from the National Honor Society or Spanish Club as many students are looking to complete service hours.

Administrator Update by Zach Dohner:

  • South Elm and West Sargent Tile – The decision to install the 24’ tile at this location has been made. Perry Excavating will be contracted to do the work in the near future.
  • Meetings with Department heads have begun in preparation for the 2020 Budget. The focus has been on completing Capital projects/expenditures for 2019 and looking at Capital needs and regular Budget items for 2020.
  • Painting of Utility Buildings – As part of the 2019 Capital Budget many of our Utility Buildings are going to be painted yet this fall including, the Salt Barn, Street and Electric Department Buildings, and the Water Plant. We have contracted Jim Speiser Painting to complete this work.
  • Chuck mentioned that he has been in contact with Christian Elden, Edgerton Chamber, to advertise by letter and social media and said he would call Cindy with the Edgerton Earth to be there for pictures.
  • Reminder: Mayor Bowsher and Zach will be attending the AMP/OMEA Conference Sept 23-25, 2019 in Columbus Ohio.

Fiscal Officer Update by Denise Knecht:

  • August 2019 Financial Reports – Council Members were asked to sign that they had received the email containing the August Financial Report.
  • Credit Card Monthly Review – Credit Card Statements were available for Council review. Council President Gruver signed the monthly review.

Council Discussion:

  • Councilman Wallace asked the question about mowers and gator purchases, wanting to know if that would be this year or next. Zach informed him most likely next year. Also the Mayor mentioned that it depends on pricing and what kind of deals might be available now by purchasing a model late in the season. Chuck suggested that we try to sell (auction) an item like the Gator instead of trading it in to bring in more money.
  • Councilman Muehlfeld asked the Administrator for the status of the Walker drainage issue and was informed that he has obtained one quote for the drive to naturally drain and is waiting on another. The project is on the radar.
