  • Trick or Treat on October 31st will now include costume judging, more details to come soon
  • Mayors’ meeting at The Studio tonight at 6:30 with guest speak Brock Mealer
  • County Fire Chiefs have issued a burn ban due to excessive dryness

Administrator Update by Dawn Fitzcharles:

  • Crews are currently on site @ Elm & Gas St to repair a broken water valve

Fiscal Officer Update by Denise Knecht:

  • Credit card review August 16-September 15
  • Ballot language for November election has been completed by Board of Elections and sent to Reid for review
  • Budget meetings still happening and going through needs of each department, making headway

Records Retention policy: This update is to reflect the addition of body worn cameras. The records retention schedule will follow the same schedule as the Ohio History Connection suggests. The Police Department received body worn cameras through a grant.

Park/Street Department resignation: Nick Lloyd has submitted his letter of resignation. His letter reads that he would like to personally thank everyone for the opportunity to work and gain relationships here in Edgerton. Nick appreciates the hospitality he has received from everyone. Lloyd’s last day is October 4, 2024.

ODOT consent agreement: We have 1 active agreement with ODOT for the SRTS & sidewalk project slated to be completed in 2026 and we are now proposing to enter in to a 2nd agreement for a paving/resurfacing project at State Route 49 and U.S. Highway 6. This project is expected to go out to bid in April of 2025 and be completed by October 31st, 2025. As of right now there is no expected cost to the Village. We are asking for the authorization to pass the legislation and execute the agreement.

Council Discussion:

Chuck Wallace updated Council that the Cemetery would be without a caretaker for a few months because their main employee has to have surgery.

Sharon Blinzler questioned what to do about a Hickory nut tree dropping nuts onto the sidewalk. It presents danger to those passing by on the sidewalk. Fitzcharles told her it needs to be taken to the Tree Commission.

Jason Gruver stated that he appreciates and would like to thank Nick Lloyd for his efforts over the last 2 years and wish him well on his new endeavor.
