Mayor Update by Robert Day:

  • Shout out & Thank You to Public Service Committee: Sharon Blinzler, Pam Wampler & Chuck Wallace for work done at Miller Park, with the help of a “blending of generations”
  • Some hydrants still need painted but a couple of groups are going to take care of this at their own pace

Administrator Update by Dawn Fitzcharles:

  • Oak Street Project: equipment, supplies & materials will be brought in 9/21/22 to get this project started. Roughly 6400 sq ft of 5’ sidewalk and 5 ADA compliant curb ramps will be completed on both sides of N. Oak St.
  • Playground equipment is slated to be installed at Gerhart Park mid-October
  • Continuing to look at different power supply opportunities and resources
  • OPWC Funding Review Committee will be meeting October 4th – we are hoping to receive funding to assist with the Water Treatment Plant upgrade and mill and replacement of Railroad Street.

Fiscal Officer Update by Denise Knecht:

  • Draft Ballot language for the 5-year, 1 Mil Cemetery Levy for the Nov 2022 General Elections was received from AJ at Williams County Board of Elections and was reviewed and approved by our Law Director
  • Credit Card Review; Monthly 8/15 – 9/15/2022 and Quarterly July, Aug & Sept 2022

Police Chief Update by Gary Plotts:

  • Jaxx and Chief Plotts are training a lot and hope to be certified in October
  • Thanks to his Officers for their teamwork and flexibility in order for him to spend training time with Jaxx
  • Auction items; have items listed for auction including tactical unit and other items

Wage & Compensation Committee Meeting (Sept 12) Report by Chair Wallace: a lot depends on the rate the State sets minimum wage and what insurance costs will be. Councilman Wallace said more will be known once they have a Finance Committee meeting which is scheduled for September 21, 2022.  Kind of in limbo right now.

Change Order Discussion: We started conversation at the last meeting- a change order request for the Water Towers Rehabilitation Project #2 completion date extension along with a decrease in cost of $9,940 with D & M Painting.

A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING PUBLIC POWER WEEK, OCT. 2-8, A WEEKLONG CELEBRATION OF EDGERTON ELECTRIC DEPARTMENT’S YEAR-ROUND SERVICE TO THE VILLAGE OF EDGERTON

Discussion:  Edgerton has owned our electric system since 1903. Public Power is something to be proud of. Edgerton participates in Public Power Week each year. This year it is held October 2nd – October 8th.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF EDGERTON, OHIO AUTHORIZING THE CONVEYANCE OF CERTAIN REAL ESTATE TO THE WILLIAMS COUNTY LAND REUTILIZATION CORPORATION

Discussion:  This is authorizing an amendment to Ordinance No. 1109. Looking at one of the two parcels on Oak Street, identified as the south parcel, Parcel 2, on the plat survey rather than both parcels.

Council DiscussionMayor Day will be starting a small library in his office as he has received several historical books from former Council Member Don Buchs.

The date for Halloween celebration is set for October 29th from 5-6. This is for Trunk or Treat as well as door to door.

Chamber of Commerce will be handling the Fall decorating for downtown.

Looking to hold a parade to welcome Santa and also light the tree in Town Park on November 26th.  The parade will possibly include trucks, tractors, bicycles and golf carts that are festively lit up.  Keep your eye out for Charlie Brown and some other characters.

Councilwoman Blinzler asked about the last block of West Hull St. Administrator Fitzcharles said the work on the street is scheduled to be completed before the end of the year.
