Mayor Update by Robert Day:

  • Remembering the family and friends of Levi Hess, Jr. Firefighter killed in a car accident last weekend; overwhelming response from the community in support of the family
  • Tree Commission meeting on 9/11 @ 5:30

Administrator Update by Dawn Fitzcharles:

  • Working on remaining 2024 capital projects
  • Department heads and administration got together to go over 2025 budget
  • Working with Chief Blue on Fire Contract renewals for St Joseph and Milford Township that are up at end of 2024; there is a calculated formula to figure contract amount, we do not anticipate any renewal issues
  • Oak St progressing nicely; has passed testing and inspection so far; plan to move radar speed signs from Gerhart to control speeding
  • Water Tower project- a couple items of warranty work to be completed on Industrial tank and is estimated to begin week of October 7

Fiscal Officer Update by Denise Knecht:

  • August 2024 financials
  • Hit the ground running working with each department to start 2025 budget, process is moving along as needed

ODD Brownfield payment: We need to accept the revenue from the ODD and issue the payment invoice to August Mack for the Edgerton Metals Brownfield remediation project. We receive reports and invoices, submit to ODD, ODD signs off on transaction and sends the money, we then remit payment to August Mack.

  • Motion to approve revenue receipt from Ohio Department of Development and issue payment for invoice #81703 to August Mack Environmental in the amount of $116,796.39 for the Edgerton Metals Brownfield Remediation Project (Edgerton Revitalization DEV-2022-193553) for project invoices through August 18, 2024:

FD retirement: Chris Fritch submitted resignation due to retirement, effective 9/2/24. Chief Scott Blue stated Captain Chris Fritch has served the Edgerton community as a volunteer member of the Fire Department for 36 years. His loyal dedication and service to our community is appreciated.

Beilharz professional services agreement: We were awarded the grant funding from the State’s capital budget in July for the construction of a new community center. We have set up the fund and received the funding from the Ohio Budget Management office. We are now ready to move forward with a design bid and construction administration contract. This group has worked with capital projects in the area in the past. Beilharz is responsible for the conceptual design that was used to submit to the grant. The goal is to have the current facility down by the end of December 2024 and then to complete the new project completed by May of 2025.

Dedication Plat of Stadium Drive Ordinance: The original plans for Alphine subdivision includes a road extending from Dairy Dr to State Route 49. The planning commission has approved the dedication of this plat for Village purposes. It will eventually include sidewalks in mid to late 2025. This is the 3rd and final reading. We have received a lot of inquiries from the public wanting to know when this will be complete. Once passed, everyone needs to sign the mylar.
