RESOLUTION NO.10-1976

 

A RESOLUTION ADOPTING A COAT OF ARMS AND A SEAL FOR THE VILLAGE OF EDGERTON, OHIO

WHEREAS, the Council of the Village of Edgerton has deemed it desirable to adopt a coat of arms and seal for and on behalf of the Village of Edgerton in this, the year of the Nation’s Bicentennial; and

WHEREAS, an open competition was held among the residents of the Village for a design for such coat of arms and seal and the design of Amy Goebel was selected based on originality and historical significance to the Village,

NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Council of the Village of Edgerton, Williams County:

SECTION 1: That the following designs are adopted as and for the coat of arms and seal of the Village of Edgerton:

The coat of arms of the Village shall consist of the following device:  A circular shield; roughly bisecting the shield from north to south shall be a representation of the St. Joseph River; in the upper left shall be a black five-pointed star representing the Village of Denmark; in the lower right shall be a black five-pointed star representing the Village of Clarksville; in the left foreground shall be a larger star representing the Village of Edgerton; and under the three aforementioned stars shall be the names “Denmark,” “Clarksville,” and “Edgerton,” respectively…

When the coat of arms of the Village of Edgerton is reproduced in color, the colors shall be blue for the representation of the St. Joseph River, red for the background, blue for the Denmark and Clarksville stars, gold for the Edgerton star, white for the writing “St. Joseph River” and black for the writing “Denmark,” “Clarksville,” and “Edgerton.”

The seal of the Village of Edgerton shall consist of the coat of arms encircled by a larger circle surrounded by the words “Edgerton, Ohio” at the top and “1827” at the bottom…

SECTION 2: The herein Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after the earliest time provided by law.  Passed this 22nd day of March, 1976.
