Avery Perez- Flag presentation- Avery is a junior at Edgerton High School and recently completed an Eagle Scout project that placed house numbers on houses that were without, in order to assist First responders. Avery also has an interest in flags and has brought a couple of renderings of a proposed “Edgerton flag” that he has designed. Avery explained the renderings are modeled after the state flag. The symbols/colors on the flag represent the following; blue-St Joe River, grey-industry & railroads, yellow-crops, agriculture, land, white stars-Native American tribes that used to live here, yellow stars-European settlers, green circle surrounding seal-agriculture. The 1827 date meaning is unknown at this point but Mayor Day has reached out to Kevin Maynard to try and find out what the significance is. The Village of Edgerton has not, to anyone’s knowledge, ever had its own flag. Perez found that there is a Williams County flag but not many communities display their own flag. When asked the intentions for the flag, Perez thinks it could be placed in front of Town Hall, by Clem in downtown park or at the Post Office.

Intern resignationCarter Herman worked for us as part of the school to work program from Edgerton Local Schools for the first semester. In Carter’s resignation letter he thanked the Village for the opportunity he had to learn and grow during his time here. Carter has an interest in engineering so he has started at the Williams County Engineers office to learn some additional skills as of Tuesday February 20th. We are excited for him, but sad to see him go. He played a large part in multiple projects here. Mayor Day added we got lucky with a couple of great workers through the school to work program.

Council Discussion:

Chuck Wallace asked when there will be a sidewalk meeting scheduled. He has been approached by multiple residents since there have been flags placed all throughout town without any explanations. Village Administrator Fitzcharles stated the flags are utility locates and their placement is standard procedure. There is not a conceptual plan in place yet so we are unable to schedule a meeting. The survey is being conducted in order to put a conceptual plan together. Final ROW plans are not due until next year. This project is going to be a process, but will be for the betterment and safety of the children when complete.

Mayor Day has scheduled a few tree commission meeting dates and will get those sent out.

  • Motion to adjourn at 5:48PM:
